![]() As for the lifelessness, it was due to budget and technological limitations. The AI had a few intresting things about but nothing special. Well the splicers of bioshock werent the most compelling enemies in video games. Neither of the BioShock games had RPG elements unless you consider being able to change your loadout at a station, collecting money, and finding loot an RPG (which in itself means Infinite was RPG).Įscrito originalmente por MrMuffinz:I didn't mean lifeless in the term there's not many lifeforms, I meant, there's not much "life" to the game itself. Infinite ditches its RPG hybrid roots ENTIRELY in favor of a linear shooter. ![]() That has quite a few more similarities and was the original System Shock 3. If you want something more similar to System Shock, compare it to Dead Space. If it wanted to be System Shock it would have labeled itself as such and THEN you could complain about how it's different. Stop comparing it to System Shock 2 because it has something different than System Shock 2. It was trying to capture the spirit of it (hence "spiritual successor"). You guys also need to realize that BioShock was never trying to be System Shock 2. I don't feel like monsters are really moving through out the ship searching for me, rather I jsut know they sit in an idle state until I get within 50m of them. The level design itself doesn't make it feel alive. ![]() I did feel alone in BioShock, not quite like I did in SS2, but there was this subtle feel where you know things are going on in Rapture while you are fighting through it. They could have well made the game feel a bit more detailed at the time (Thief 1 and 2 are pretty well detailed), but I assume they couldn't due to funding and the inevitable shutdown of LG. I know what you are thinking: He's talking about graphics. It feels rather the same the whole game until you get to the Many.īioshock felt nicely detailed, in the sense that I didn't feel like I was walking down a bland hallway with nothing to it. I didn't mean lifeless in the term there's not many lifeforms, I meant, there's not much "life" to the game itself. Survival Horror? All gone, here's a cheery, bright setting! Who needs atmosphere and the constant sense of danger when you can have armchair philosophy and forced social commentary! Want to get immersed? Here's an AI companion to constantly annoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of you. The RPG elements? Stripped down to a skeleton crewĮxploration? Search ♥♥♥♥ while walking forward. Infinite is underserving of the "Shock" title. I cant speak for bioshock infinite as I have never played it but I hear its alot better than bioshock 1. The moral choice system is better, the gunplay/plasmids are better and alot funner to use, hacking is actually quite good and so forth. The gameplay is great fun and has improved most of the faults of the original bioshock. Sure the story isnt as good as infinite or system shock 2 but still atleast it doesnt feel like a re telling of system shock 2's story which exactily what bioshock 1 did. I dont get why bioshock 2 gets so much hate to be honest.
